TWIGS Open Day was fabulous

TWIGS have taken part in Open Studios for the last 2 years, and will do so this year I hope. Confirmation should come in the next few days.
Their Craft Studios enable people to produce a wide variety of artefacts, and the gardens today were looking wonderful.
Their plant sales offer the best value and choice. With perennials at £2 for a large pot, and wild flowers grown form seed for just 50p.
Here are some photos of a selection of the gardens:

The Victoria and Albert Museum - it's a day out in itself.

Whether you want to look at the displays, or want to pay to see one of their exhibitions, the V & A is a wonderful place to visit.
The Cult of Beauty Exhibition is wonderful. It runs until the 17th of July.
I would recommend buying the 20 postcards on exceptionally good quality card for £7.50 as a reminder of the exhibition.
The image used here is 'Pavonia' by Frederic Leighton.
This is 'Charger' by William De Morgan, a beautiful plate
After the rigours of viewing and reading information about the exhibits, it's good to go outside and have a break from it all. The outside of the building is as good as inside.

Bath Society of Artists 106th Summer Exhibition Opening Friday 10 June 6 - 8pm

Two of our Open Studios artists, Ken White and Tim Carroll,  took part in the Summer Exhibition held at the Victoria Art Gallery, by Pulteney Bridge, Bath BA2 4AT http://www.victoriagal.org.uk
The exhibition continues until 16 July, there are over 300 works pf art for sale.
They are open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sundays 1.30 - 5pm.
Admission free.
It was very crowded at the opening, taking photographs was hampered by the sheer volume of people.
'Canal Walk' by Ken White, oil.

'Green Hill' by Tim Carroll, acrylic

'Roman Bath' by Tim Carroll, terracotta
This gives an idea of the number of people there, and also how much artwork there is on the walls and on plinths

Amazing Wood Turnings wherever you look and Wood Stacking as an art form

Andy Tucker, a worker in wood has agreed to take part in Open Studios this year after a discussion this morning.
Visitors will see the most amazing designs for everyday objects from toilet roll holders, to lamp stands to chairs to log carriers. Andy enjoys using wood he has collected for all sorts of uses, his stacking methods are a joy to behold.
It was difficult to decide what to photograph, the choice has not been photographed well, it's a garden object in a beautiful garden.

Ray Ward has joined Open Studios with a Pop Up Museum

Ray says the following about what he's doing for his contribution to Open Studios:

Over 8 days in September (7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17) Swindon Museum and Art Gallery will be invaded by Pop Up Museum.  The displays are going to be kept secret until the event.  Until then the Wiltshire Pop Up blog spot is devoting itself to anything and everything that could but is not going to be in Pop Up Museum.  If you have anything Swindon related you want to share let us know.
